Alpine PND-K3- Portable Navigation Device

Alpine, the portable navigation device [PND] company launches its new device called Alpine PND-K3. This compact model has a smart and vibrant look. It has an attractive wide touch screen with charcoal grey-and-black color. The device measures 4.8 inches length, 2.9 inches breadth and 0.7 inches thick. It weighs 6.3 ounces. So it makes it easy for users to use it for different vehicles. It gives opportunity to users to use different colors for the menus of device and color schemes like ruby, aqua, or emerald. It also has a unique animated navigation

It has a touch screen of 4.3 inch with a resolution of 480×272 pixels. It shows maps and information like street names sharply and it’s easy for users to read it. You can also customize the user interface according to your needs and comfort level to some extent which includes adjusting the brightness and backlight tile of the touch screen. The main menu / start page of the device shows four basic options as follows:

  • Go To
  • Play
  • Home
  • Info

With the default settings provided you can directly use the Map section. But after that if you want to get back to the main page, you have to go back through many steps. For entering an address there is an on screen keyboard which is wide and user friendly. It has a predictive text function so that you can get the needed address of location by entering just first few letters of that address and the device will suggest you related addresses.

The device has a power button on the left side unlike other devices. A mini USB port is situated at the bottom of the unit. It also has a microSD expansion slot, 3.5 mm headphone jack with volume control tabs on the top making it easy for user access. The device comes with a car charger, an AC adapter, a USB cable, a vehicle mount including one for the dashboard and windshield.

The Alpine PND-K3 has a 20-channel GPS receiver. It gets connected to a satellite quickly so that you can get road guidance as soon as you start your trip. It is also useful for multidestination trips. This GPS device comes with maps of United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands preloaded. The device saves visited locations, so that it helps you finding the recently visited location on the maps. Maps are allowed to be viewed in 2D or 3D views according to users preference.

By entering an address you can find the point of interests [POI]. You can also add POI in its database. It already has 6 million points of interests in its database. The POIs are categorized so as to provide users comfort while searching the POI they want. The categories are like fuel stations, banks, lodging and restaurants according to cuisines with special categories like wineries, marinas and parks.

It provides automatic and quick route calculations. The device can give voice guidance to users in English, Spanish or French. The text-to-speech feature allows users to listen to the street names they are currently on. It provides names of the streets you will be on after turns. It also has built in music player which has play list creation option supporting MP3 and WMV files.
